COMPLESSO MONUMENTALE DONNAREGINA

Naples Vivaldi Concert Hall

The stunning Donnaregina Monumental Complex - Diocesan Museum of Naples is an extraordinary place as it offers an interesting and unique itinerary between Gothic and Baroque right in the heart of the city of Naples. The Complex includes both the seventeenth-century Chiesa Nuova, within which the museum in the strict sense has its headquarters, and the fourteenth-century Chiesa Vecchia, a rare example of the Neapolitan Gothic style. It also hosts a collection of paintings, bronzes and relics from the archbishop's palace and other places of worship in the city. Of particular value is the Stauroteca di San Leonzio, a reliquary cross with a fragment of the Holy Cross in filigree gold from the 12th century. The Opera and Lirica concerts are hosted in the marvelous New Church entirely decorated with gilded stuccos typical of the Neapolitan Baroque and forming part of the Complex.

Address: Largo Donnaregina, 80138 Naples
