Correale Museum of Sorrento

CORREALE MUSEUM OF SORRENTO

Sorrento Opera Concert Hall - Sorrento Opera Festival

The Correale Museum of Terranova is an archaeological museum and art gallery located in the centre of Sorrento. Inaugurated in 1924, the museum has 24 exhibition rooms, spread across the four floors of the eighteenth-century villa. It offers its visitors the incredible collection of paintings and portraits in the Neapolitan style of the Posillipo district, dating back from the XV to XIX Century, so as the precious porcelains shaped with the famous Capodimonte method.

The museum is one of the tourist highlights in Sorrento, and the Italian opera performed in this fascinating location is the perfect blend of art and emotion, culture and passion.

From April until October the Opera e Lirica concerts take place in Sorrento in this gorgeous mansion overlooking the Gulf of Naples, offering our guests an evocative view, with its three floors and its majesty, while the garden surrounding the museum infuses the atmosphere with fragrances and colours.

The opera singers voices resound in the golden rooms of the Correale Museum, when the light of sunset is a prelude to the magic of the night in Sorrento

"The Halls of Mirrors" for concerts indoor of Opera e Lirica
The Hall of MIrrors is an enchanting white and gold living room, full of consoles and mirrors, the perfect location for classical music events. It is reserved every year, from April until October for our concerts of opera and classical music. This is followed by the sitting room with “Game of Biribisso” and the room dedicated to Flemish painting from the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. Along these rooms there is a panorama of the painting of the Neapolitan decorative arts, from the fifteenth to the eighteenth century: the Spanish viceroy, the short Austrian vice-regal period and the establishment of the independent Kingdom of Naples and Sicily in 1735 with Charles Bourbon.
"The Correale Museum Park"
The Museum Park is one of the most visited green areas in Sorrento. The central avenue is bordered by plane trees and orange groves, while in the garden areas you can see the typical installation of the pergola in chestnut poles, an agricultural technique used in Sorrento to protect citrus fruits from the wind and rain. Continuing along the park avenue, you arrive at the Belvedere Terrace, where you can admire the breathtaking view of the Gulf of Naples.
