A high number of them will travel the world to step onto the stage of one of the most romantic cities in Italy. Others will be delighted by the opportunity to perform for the first time before the great public of the land that they can call ‘home’. The whole city of Sorrento – locals and regular visitors – will be glad to welcome them and warmly applaud with the inner energy of the Mediterranean people. We cannot contain our excitement at the announcement of the dates of the Second Edition of the International Opera Singing Competition City of Sorrento. From April 2nd to 4th 2020, the company Opera e Lirica Srls, will enliven Sorrento days at the Correale Museum of Terranova with this international-scale event. The opera singers who are making their debut are going to sing before the public of a city that has always loved the opera tradition. Sorrento is a place where history, music and breathtaking views are inextricably linked.

Would you ever resist the challenge and opportunity of following in the steps of the great interpreters who were fond of Sorrento, first and foremost Enrico Caruso? Carpe Diem. Apply for the competition by March 15th, by sending an email to direzioneartistica@opera-lirica.com indicating four pieces that you would like to perform, from the opera arias repertoire. Warning: There are limited spots!

Accompanied by the pianist made available by the organizers, you will be called to take part in the first round of performances on April 2nd or 3rd, by interpreting two out of the four pieces previously indicated. Then, during the final performance scheduled on April 4th, interpreters shall test their skills with the arias that they have not performed yet. The winner will be chosen by the panel of judges chaired by the internationally renowned soprano Norma Fantini and composed by Ivan Antonio, the Artistic Director of the Claudio Abbado Symphony Orchestra, Giuseppina Cuccaro, the Opera e Lirica Srls CEO and Founder, and Marco Frusoni, CEO and Founder of ArtsCom, service and consulting agency for artists.

The three top-ranked singers will be awarded a €1000, €700 and €400 prize respectively. In addition to this, ArtsCom offers the 1st-prize winner the free creation of a website about the artist, including a domain and one year of free hosting. That's not the end of it: for this Second Edition we have added the Claudio Abbado Symphony Orchestra Special Prize, giving the special prize winner the opportunity to perform at one of the prestigious OSCA shows (http://www.orchestrasinfonicasalerno.it).

Moreover, the winners will obviously be given the opportunity to perform before the audience of the Correale Museum of Terranova on April 4th at 9 pm, during the much-anticipated Concert of the Winners: a great gala of opera arias. The money collected from the tickets of the gala soirée will finance the restoration of works kept in the House of Arts in Sorrento.
