The anticipation of those who are getting prepared to perform before a large audience and a prestigious panel for the first time. The enthusiasm of those who interpret timeless operas in a place that is rich in history and culture. The emotion that only singing and the notes of the piano are able to convey. These are the feelings awaiting participants at the first international opera singing competition, which will take place at the Correale Museum of Terranova from October 29th to 31st.

The competition, organized by the Opera e Lirica company and sponsored by the Municipality, is the great Autumn event on the Sorrento Coast: a festival that will allow opera singing devotees to test themselves in the art of great interpreters such as Enrico Caruso, a tenor who had a deep bond with Sorrento. Are you ready to follow in the footsteps of Luciano Pavarotti or Maria Callas? If so, you just have to apply for the competition by October 15th, by sending an email to direzioneartistica@opera-lirica.com indicating four pieces that you would like to perform, from the opera arias repertoire.

Accompanied by the pianist made available by the organizers, you will be called to take part in the first round of performances on October 29th or 30th, by interpreting two out of the four pieces previously indicated. Then, during the final performance scheduled on Oct. 31St, the interpreters shall test their skills with the arias that they have not performed yet. The winner will be chosen by the panel of judges composed by the soprano Norma Fantini, the conductor Nicola Hanslik Semale, the artist manager Antonio Desiderio, and Giuseppina Cuccaro, Opera e Lirica founder and CEO.

The three top-ranked singers will be awarded a €1000, €700 and €400 prize respectively. Moreover, they will obviously be given the opportunity to perform before the audience of the Correale Museum of Terranova on October 31st at 9 pm, during the much-anticipated Concert of the Winners: a great gala of opera arias. The money collected from the tickets of the gala soirée will finance the restoration of works kept in the House of Arts in Sorrento.
